# Polkadex

> Polkadex is an independent Layer 1 blockchain built with Substrate,
> engineered for high-performance decentralized trading. Its Orderbook
> uses the OCEX architecture: orders (limit & market) are matched
> off-chain by a high-performance engine at sub-millisecond speed, while
> settlement and custody are fully on-chain — the engine executes orders
> but can never touch user funds. Combined with trust-minimized
> cross-chain transfers via Hyperbridge. Originally launched within the
> Polkadot ecosystem, Polkadex now operates as a sovereign network with
> its own validator set (200+ nodes), roadmap, and governance.

Key facts:
- Governance: the sudo key was removed long ago — no single entity can
  control the network or user funds. All protocol upgrades are governed
  on-chain.
- Token: PDEX (native, 20,000,000 total supply, 100% unlocked — no
  future emissions, no vesting overhang). PDEX is not listed on
  centralized exchanges; native PDEX is acquired on-chain via
  https://buypdex.com
- Status: Polkadex 2.0 Orderbook is live on public testnet (cross-chain
  with Ethereum Sepolia via Hyperbridge). Mainnet relaunch targeted
  Q4 2026.
- Staking: nominators earn rewards every era (~24h) by nominating
  validators; unbonding period is 28 days. Compatible wallets: Nova
  Wallet, Talisman, SubWallet, Fearless, Polkadot.js.
- The testnet is non-incentivized: no points, no airdrops, no rewards
  program — participation is to help harden the product before mainnet.
